Today we had a very groovy visit from the Kahurangi Dance Company. People of the Pacific was a dazzling, rhythmic spectacle, bringing to life the traditional songs and dances of New Zealand’s Maori and neighbouring South Pacific cultures. In addition to pieces from New Zealand, the students were thrilled by the choreography, music and colourful costumes from Tahiti, Hawaii, Samoa and the Cook Islands. They were a talented bunch of performers who had only been together since last Tuesday. Here are some snaps Calum took for us and a photostory Miss O'B made with them. Their album is available for sale on i-tunes and there are more snaps to view if you google them. There is nothing better than learning a bit of history through the medium of story telling!
